Things I’m lusting over this January!
It’s almost been a month since Christmas, and while I was extremely blessed with the gifts I received during the holidays (seriously, my friends and family know me so well), the end of every January also marks a time when I plan out what exactly I want to buy for the coming months.
While I’m not pulling the trigger on any of these just yet, having it in writing helps me visualize how a certain item will fit with my other tablescaping pieces, while at the same time helping me plan my purchases more effectively. Win-win situation, right?
Do you like to plan in a similar way? I’d love to see your wishlist/s (link me all the Pinterest links please). And as always, let me know what you think down below!
First up on my list is something that might seem very familiar to you, if you’ve read my post regarding the best charger plates one can buy online. These glass charger plates are roughly around $13 a piece, so not insanely expensive, but they’re honestly pretty impractical since I only own around two sets of plateware that would look gorgeous paired with these (a set of navy blue stoneware plates and white stoneware plates, in case you’re wondering).
Besides, these aren’t that impractical, as far as impracticality goes. I mean, they’re dishwasher-safe which has to account for something, right? Also, spring is coming up soon (wishful thinking on my part), and I think these would look absolutely fabulous on an Easter tablescape!
I know I’m terribly late to the trend, but speaking of stoneware plates got me thinking that I just don’t have enough to go around (or at least, to set the black and white rustic tablescape of my dreams)! I don’t own any set of all-black plateware, so the next item on my list is both useful and pretty. I especially love the matte glazing and uneven edges—both give such a natural look to the table.
In terms of practicality, these plates are dishwasher and microwave-safe. And at $5.99 per plate, these don’t break the bank either! My only concern is the finishing: my semi-matte stoneware plates show major signs of scratching, and the reviews for these ones state the same problem.
If I’m going to add a new set of plateware to my wishlist, I may as well go down the less practical route. I’m currently loving these beautiful speckled stoneware plates that come in the most dreamy shade of pink! They’re glazed, so not prone to scratches, and they’re dishwasher, oven, AND microwave-safe—all at the low, low price of $24.50. Talk about a hassle-free addition to my tablescaping collection!
Take note, these are quite hefty as they’re hand-thrown from kaolin clay. Definitely not for the faint of heart, or at least not for those who own delicate glass tables.
I’m adding another glass charger plate option to my wishlist, because look at it! How could I possibly not? This one comes in the most gothic shade of black/midnight blue, and it’s perfect for all the glamorous dinners I’m planning to throw this year (and not to mention Halloween)!
Believe it or not, this one is slightly pricier than the option above, clocking in at just under $17. The manufacturer also doesn’t mention if it’s dishwasher-safe, leaving me to assume that you shouldn’t be placing these beauties in the dishwasher unless you want a whole lot of mess on your hands. Despite everything, I still think they’re lust-worthy enough to go on my list!
You know me, and you know that I love charcuterie boards. Normally I would balk at the prices in Anthropologie, but let’s be honest, at $58 this is on the lower end of the Anthro-scale. Besides, the whole point of a wishlist is to wish, right?
Anyway, this gorgeous chocolate marble and acacia cheese board makes my list not only because it’s super pretty, but because it has two handles. I know there are many cheaper options out there, but do you know difficult it is to find a marble cheese board with a double handle? And trust me when I say that the ease of having two hands to firmly grip your cheese board will change your life.
Part of my tablescaping goals this year is to create sleeker, more stylish tables. Needless to say, if I can’t get the marble and wood cheese board above then this option fits the bill just as well. Made from acacia wood and with two leather handles to help you serve all the good stuff, this bad boy is gorgeous and hefty. According to C&B, this one clocks in at 18″Wx10″Dx3″H, which is exactly why you’ll need two hands when using this thing.
At $59.95 this is definitely not the cheapest option you can buy, but I assure you that it’s probably one of the most stylish looking cheese boards you will ever lay your eyes on.
I’ve been looking for a stylish metal drink pitcher for quite some time (to display and serve drinks at the table), and this is the one I’ve set my sights on. According to one happy reviewer, this drink pitcher is dishwasher-safe, unbreakable, and crafted from a lightweight hammered stainless steel. Plus it’s insulated, perfect for keeping your drinks cool in the summer! Currently, I’ve been using a mix of different glass carafes to serve drinks at my table. While it’s not a bad look, I’m a little bit bored of it and at $25.88 for this drink pitcher I’ll be sure to upgrade soon!
This may not fit in with the aesthetic of this list, but my mom had something similar to this when I was growing up and looking at it just brings back the fondest memories. I love the hand painted flowers and how they bring such a dreamy and playful look to the serving bowl! Of course, hers wasn’t as whimsical, though if I’ll be completely honest I’m still a little inspired by the Baroque style I wrote about a few weeks back. BTW, the manufacturer also states that this is dishwasher and microwave-safe, which originally was a worry of mine seeing the delicate flower petals.
