Get this look for cheap!
I pride myself on being pretty thrifty, and so I’m always looking for inexpensive ways to decorate. By far my favorite material for creating gorgeous backdrops for my tablescapes is the painter’s drop cloth. With some house paint and a lot of imagination, you can easily turn a plain drop cloth into something worthy of its own editorial!
All you need is a canvas drop cloth from the hardware (or from online) and a bunch of paint. I love how cheap and accessible these are—plus they come in a variety of sizes too! These are also perfect for picnics or other outdoor events where I know things will get a little messy.
Stripes and stripes
Simple black stripes on a plain drop cloth is such a cute and easy way to create a fun picnic blanket, just click on the photo to see how it’s done! However, if you aren’t confident in your free hand abilities, check out the other great ideas below.
Use potato stamps for a patterned look
I love this repeating geometric pattern! If triangles aren’t your style, consider experimenting with other easy shapes like circles and squares. Of course, you can also get into more complex designs depending on your potato carving abilities.
Stencils are your friends
Create cool patterns and lines on your cloth by using painter’s tape to block out the edges! Get creative and experiment with grids, zig zags, and more to create a unique tablecloth for your next event!
