Minimalism is the name of the game!
While I love the thought of fancy tablescapes overflowing with flowers, sometimes I’m just a little bit overwhelmed by all the planning and effort that go into one. The good news is, tablescapes don’t always have to be overloaded with crazy details to look spectacular! Keep your looks simple, yet equally as striking, by planning an ultra modern setting that will make your next gathering the coolest place to be.
Keep it in the (color) family
Monochromatic tablescapes just scream sophisticated elegance. Channel the look at your next affair without going overboard by using predominant hues in black, white, and gray. Add pops of color and texture with simple greens and florals, or muted metal finishes, that won’t detract from the overall aesthetic.
A black tablecloth sets the tone for a moody and modern table. Keep your linens unpressed to add more texture to an otherwise simple tablescape.
Small greens are a great way to add pops of color and texture without losing the monochromatic feel. Simple patterns, like the black stripes on the napkins, also keep the look fresh and relaxed.
Mix black and white together for a super cool and striking look. Keep the rest of your table simple by coordinating your glassware and by using taper candles as your only accessories.
Be there or be square
Geometric details are easy ways to incorporate modernity to an otherwise plain tablescape. Use squared or even hexagonal plates to achieve an ultra cool look, or break up the monotony by mixing and matching different geometric shapes.
Square plates in simple colors—like black or white—look so chic! I love the light colored linens topped with varnished stone place cards, as well as the simple bonsai centerpieces, that finish the entire look.
I’m a big believer in only buying what you need or what you can reuse for the future. This holds especially true for tablescapes—while it can be tempting to jump the gun on trendy plateware, it’s also quite a big investment to make. Thankfully, paper plates exist and have evolved to include super cute options, like this geometric set in different patterns and finishes.
It’s all in the details
Don’t neglect the rest of your table! Even if you choose to keep your arrangement uncluttered, keep your looks cohesive and finished by using details like geometric planters, chargers, linens, and even greenery to really take your look to the next level.
I love this copper and gray theme with pops of greens! Small details, like these geometric planters, elevate your look from plain to modern and fresh.
When you’re planning an ultra simple and uncluttered tablescape even the smallest detail counts. I’m in love with the refreshing neutral palette in this setting, and the tiny flowers in black lacquered trays that tie the whole look together.
The skinny wooden handles on the flatware match perfectly with the copper accents on the linens! Add a major pop of color to your table by using yellow flowers to contrast with the muted grayish-blue hue of the plates.
