Get ready for the wedding of your dreams!
I’m in love with the idea of jetting off to a Mediterranean island for a grand destination wedding, but unfortunately while they’re dream worthy they also take so much planning (and money) to do! And I’m decidedly NOT in love with the idea of spending a ton of money, even if it’s for my big day! If you feel the same way then this is the perfect article for you!
Fortunately, I am ALL about getting the look for less. My best tip? Cut some of the cost and a lot of the effort by bringing the destination to you! From the shores of Greece to the islands of Italy, recreate these effortless and romantic Mediterranean looks that will have you falling in love all over again!
A Tiled Design
One of the most beautiful aspects of the Mediterranean culture are their gorgeous tiles. Of course, the designs may vary per region, but all of them are colorful, dainty, and oh so artistic. Pay homage to this gorgeous art by incorporating them in your wedding and get ready to take your tablescapes to the next level!
A grid of tiles and matching linens is one of the most innovative ways I’ve seen to incorporate this look! Match the rest of your scape to the tiles by using similar colors—you don’t want to overwhelm your scape after all.
If actual tiles are a bit too much for you, get the same look with these printed table linens! Don’t you just love this monochromatic scape?
Fruits of the Harvest
Use Mediterranean fruits—like lemons, oranges, and grapes—to add a beautiful and culturally-appropriate focal point to your table. As a big bonus, they’ll make your wedding smell absolutely divine!
Olive branches, limes, lemons, and white pillar candles all work together to make a gorgeous, and deceptively simple, tablescape!
Instead of creating a runner with your fruits, why don’t you stack them in platters scattered around the scape, like in this example? Fresh blooms and gorgeous settings complete this romantic look.
While fresh blooms aren’t groundbreaking wedding props, set your wedding apart and give a nod to the Mediterranean theme by using colorful blooms that will transport you (and your guests) to the beautiful Italian seaside.
Is there anything more Mediterranean than the bougainvillea? Use the vine to your advantage—clip huge clumps of these and arrange them as your runner. Their colorful nature is sure to make a big statement!
Although big blooms like peonies aren’t the first things that come to mind when you think of the Mediterranean, a mix of bright colors—like oranges and pinks—give a nod to your theme without having to go all out! Temper down the bright centerpiece with gorgeous muted glassware and plateware, like the teals in this example.
Isn’t this the perfect tablescape for a daytime wedding? Recreate this look by keeping the rest of your scape extra simple to really maximize the effect of your gorgeous centerpieces. I just love how fresh and airy this looks!
