Bring out your inner child with these great ideas!
Stray away from your usual café and coffee dates and throw a whimsical tea party at home! Whether your style leans towards classic and romantic or more modern and sleek, I’ve put together a list of 5 great tablescaping ideas perfect for your next get-together!
Through a magical forest
Throw a moody, magical, and over-the-top whimsical tea party with this crazy tablescape. Rich jewel and earthy hues contrast beautifully with the light pastels from the flowers and the desserts. I love the idea of placing a fake grass runner as the backdrop for beautiful tiered dessert trays and cake stands. To make the setting more sweet and personal, try cutting some flowers and placing them in each individual tea setting.
Throw a classic affair
If you prefer a more romantic look, mini bouquets atop a light or pastel colored runner keeps the table airy and fresh! I suggest choosing a classic color scheme—like the light pinks and lavenders in this example—and creating bouquets with different flowers for a whimsical tea party idea with a classic twist. Use summer blooms, like hydrangeas, peonies, and dahlias to keep the look light and sweet!
Add a small twist
I love this take on the classic tea party tablescape that mixes romance with modern touches. Use a lace runner—I think doily runners would work great too—topped with summery pastel flowers and dainty china, in addition to linens with a striking modern print like this black and white striped example to provide a gorgeous contrast that would look great for a garden party.
Blooms in bloom
Afternoon tea is the perfect time to go overboard with the flowers, as seen in this whimsical tea party idea. I love the mix of pink, lilac, and cream florals and how they blend with the feminine pastel tablecloth. If you prefer a simpler tablescape, using a plain white or cream tablecloth instead of a printed one would look equally as amazing. Add a personal touch by adding sprigs of flowers atop each setting.
For the modern muse
I’m in love with this ultra chic and modern take on the classic English tea party. For a bold look, mix and match different metallic finishes and patterns in a monochromatic color scheme. Recreate this look by using modern ceramic plates instead of fine china in a black and white palette, and tie it all together with gold and copper touches. To make it extra special, I suggest DIY-ing simple place cards with beautiful calligraphy.
