It’s time to brighten up our decor!
I’ve been loving the influx of citrus tablescapes on my Instagram feed lately: after all, citrus is definitely the way to go for summer. Not only do fruits like lemons, oranges, and grapefruit look distinctly summery, they smell great as well! And of course, everyone knows that good tablescapes should be a feast for almost all the senses.
Besides, I don’t know about you but with the hot summer days (and nights), we’ve been having a very big insect infestation over here. I absolutely hate all sorts of creepy crawlies and the idea of them swarming all over my tables dampens my mood just a little bit.
If you’re like me and you hate being fodder for these pesky little bugs, then you should know that they absolutely detest the smell of citrus. And since having pretty fruits all over a scape beats having all of those mosquito coils around, I’ll call this a win-win situation. Seriously, cute and useful—remind me again what citrus can’t do?
Muted and clean
I’m orange crushin’ hard on this ultra-minimalist and ultra-chic citrus scape. The burnt color of dried oranges just looks so cool when mixed wood and copper accents. I also love the blend of neutral colors—and yes, before anyone asks, baby pink is most definitely a new neutral—and luxe gold flatware.
The mix of bright, citrus colors and dusty blue in this table is so romantic and whimsical. I’m a huge fan of the marbled tablecloth—it’s neutral enough to be the backdrop for this gorgeous scape, but it’s also a conversation starter all on its own. Besides, the gold accents on the cloth (and on the flatware) make the bright yellows and oranges of the centerpiece pop.
This table proves that bigger isn’t always better! While you know that I absolutely adore OTT scapes, sometimes reining back on your decor can be a very good thing (I always forget that tip). Small citrus fruits, like mandarin oranges and kumquats, are also such a cute way to add color to your table without going overboard on the citrus theme.
Another thing you may have noticed on my Instagram is how much I love greenery. I can’t help it, it automatically makes your table look so lush and fresh… without the hefty price tag. That’s why I’m in love with this tablescape that combines both greens and citrus! Kumquat branches are perfect for the job—they make such great table runners, don’t you think? And of course, remember to keep the summery vibe alive by using gorgeous rattan chargers.
Mixing it up
Give your decor a bit of depth by using different citrus fruits all around. I’m obsessed with the mix of yellows, oranges, and greens in this fun summer scape. I also love how the whole look isn’t overwhelming—the neutral wood texture and the basic woven chargers keep this table from looking overdone.
