Celebrate his day in style!
If your dad is anything like mine, you should know that he’s not really into celebrating. Not that he HATES it, but in general, making a fuss about things is just too much of a hassle for him. But that doesn’t give you an excuse to forgo a Father’s Day celebration! After all, you’re celebrating the BEST DAD EVER, right? So check out some of the ideas below, get inspired, and plan a party that I’m sure he’ll love!
A minimal approach
As a general rule, dads are pretty laid back and unfussed about tablescaping and party decor. So keep it simple and minimal with a design like this, which is striking enough without having to overdo it with the decorating, and opt out of flowers in lieu of greenery to keep things fresh and masculine.
A trip down memory lane
Let the food do the talking with a charcuterie board centerpiece piled to the brim with cheeses, meats, and sweets (trust me, your dad will thank you). While you can use all sorts of things as place cards, I especially love this one with favorite pictures of dad for an extra sweet treat!
Is there anything more dad-like than a barbecue? Shower your favorite grillmaster with this simple, yet totally cheery, al fresco scape. Instead of flowers, which can veer to the too-feminine territory, keep things rustic and less frilly with grass in metal pails. As a final touch, send your guests home with your leftover marinade in tiny jars that will leave them with fond memories—and tastes—from a celebration to remember!
A see-food party
Get baking this summer… with a clam bake, that is! I love this gorgeous nautical-inspired table with its metal trays as centerpieces. Go double duty and fill them to the brim with clams, corn, and whatever else you want! Instead of traditional place settings, prepare guests with these mini baskets filled with everything they need for an awesome time—utensils, napkins, straws, and of course, mini bottles of wine. Make sure there’s lots of lemons to go around and prepare to go crazy at your seafood soirée!
Dress to impress
Show dad some love with this Father’s Day-appropriate napkin fold. Let your linens do the talking and keep your table simple by matching the runner to your napkins, and leaving the rest of the scape unfussy. Not into neckties? There are so many dad-friendly ways to fold napkins—bowties, tuxedos, and more. Just let your imagination take over, and the sky’s the limit!
